The term "super model" took hold in the popular culture of the 1980s and 1990s. There is no set standard of what

In the 1970s, some models became more prominent as their names became more recognizable to the general public. These
models included Janice Dickinson, Cheryl Tiegs, Iman Abdulmajid and Christie Brinkley. The prominence of super models
increased in the 1980s, with models such as Claudia Schiffer, Tatjana Patitz, Elle Macpherson, and Cindy Crawford. By
the 1990s, which has been called "the era of the super models", they were prominent in the media. During this
period, Linda Evangelista, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington, were called the "trinity" of top super models.
